What Should I Make For Lunch / Dinner? Lunch Plan or Dinner Plan

Jan 15, 2016 | Posted by Jenn MacDonald | Cooking, Food, Highland Dove Homeschool Helper, Parenting |

Sometimes it’s not the school part of homeschool that stops up the works, sometimes it’s being buried under laundry or deciding what to have for dinner.

There are sooo many blog posts to help you do meal planning.  I don’t love the work involved, but I love the result of 30-day cooking.  So, if you’d like private instructions for your preferences and family, let me know and I can teach you how.

If you’d like a tool to help you on a weekly or daily basis, this helped me.  I printed off and laminated (front to back) the meals we commonly make.  Then I can make a weekly meal plan and a grocery list based on our preferences and budget.  It’s laminated so I can use a marker (one that washes off with water so the kids don’t erase it by accident) and keep it on the fridge with a strong magnet.  I have 7 people in my family and we shop at Aldi’s, so my prices are based on that.  You can use mine (we eat meatless on Fridays) or make one of your own based on your family’s favorite meals and budget.

Several family members are gluten & dairy free. Paleo meals work well (or can be easily modified) for them.  It can be hard to make good food decisions when you’re thinking about the work involved in cooking them.  So I made menu-type sheets to inspire them.  They can make healthy choices even when they’re too tired to think.  These are recipes we’ve made before and liked and are pinned on a Pinterest Board so we have all the recipes for them.

It’s been easier to get inspired when something looks really good to you.  Here are the ones I made for my family. Paleo Ideas (the pdf with the pictures) from my personal Pinterest board Good Food / Healthy Food

A friend who I shared these with had this use for them…

Oooo that’s a good idea! I may have to make something like that to have the kids more involved in meal planning and choosing what they want for snacks. Maybe it will make them more interested in trying new things!!

And you can always contact me! Highland Dove Homeschool Helper would love to schedule an individual consultation and we can work through your specific situation together!  We can even schedule distance consultations in person, by phone or skype!

  • Jenn is fantastic at helping you organize YOUR homeschool, not just implementing HERS in your home. When my family had some personal struggles that zapped my brain of it’s ability to function Jenn opened her co-op to my kids, shared her lesson plan layout and resource list…she took all the brain work out of the year for me. We execute plans in different ways but that is what is so beautiful about working with her……she is passionate about the TRUE essence of homeschooling which is the parents educating their children in a way that fits them. She is a walking, talking example of the best homeschool how-to book you’ll ever read!!
