Vacations

We like vacations.  They're a little expensive, but we try and do them as cheaply as possible.  We always consider them "educational opportunities".

We usually try to stay in a suite room, so there's enough room for all the kids.  We pack a cooler of food & quick snacks and eat from that as much as possible.  We also go off-season when the park Inns offer discounts.

I try and print out as many worksheets, maps, etc. as I can find before we leave to take with us.  I also check out books from the library (that I guard with my life) to read on the way there & back.

Often, we go to state parks.  We always visit any nature center they have and ask if they have any hand-outs about their parks.

I've tried to get the kids to scrapbook about their trip...thus far, I've been unsuccessful.
