I love Montessori motivations, methods & materials.  She believed that each child had a longing for God and if we just created a loving, learning environment, the child would find Him.  Below are some of the books I've read, websites I've haunted, and materials I've made for our school.

Books

This book is an oldie, but a goodie to get you started.

Teaching Montessori in the Home by Elizabeth Hainstock - “So often we scold a young child for banging drawers shut and yet have we ever taken the time to show him the proper way of opening and closing drawers?

Lots of ideas of things to make for your children.

The Good Shepherd and the Child: A Joyful Journey by Sofia Cavalletti
This is a religion curriculum / method developed by the woman who worked under Maria Montessori.  It has concepts behind why children learn best under these conditions, as well as hands-on activities to enhance your child's understanding of his relationship with God.

 GREAT Websites -

I've made quite a few of the self-checking, self-contained Preschool Ziplock Bag Activities described on this website :
